Grossing $650,000 in Carbondale

This practice is a fee for service no managed care practice grossing 650,000 per year on 113 work days in 2013 with thirteen weeks’ vacation. The experienced staff includes two front desk personnel, two hygienists, and one dental assistant.
The 2700 square foot professional office building has five well equipped operatories with digital radiography. The practice is located in a high traffic flow and highly visible area. The office was recently remodeled with all new flooring, wall coverings, and furniture.
The community has a strong economic stability with the economy based around the state university located in Carbondale, a Junior college located about 8 miles away and the largest hospital in the area located in Carbondale. The area has bike and walking trails and the city has a very active park district which owns and operates their own golf course and is currently constructing an aquatic center.
The practice has a long history of profitability with low overhead less than 50%. Therefore, I really have never attempted any attempts at marketing except bold face print in the phone listing. My main referral source is from existing patients.
I have given this decision of selling or transitioning to the next phase of my life much contemplation and soul searching for the past 14 months and have finally accepted after much reassurance from my wife that there are other dentists who can be as caring to my staff and my patients as I have been. I don’t want to sound too sentimental but, I am treating 4th generation patients who are not only patients but have become dear friends. And I have an excellent staff that is like family not employees.
